RMQM, in collaboration with the Denver Center for the Performing Arts, produces Quilt Extravaganza in honor of the "Quilters" play. The Library is all yours this summer! Discover new books and enjoy exciting programs with our Summer Reading Clubs. The Kids’ Summer Reading Club, “Be Creative! Be Yourself!” is open to children birth through elementary school.  The Teen Summer Reading Club, “Express Yourself ” offers fun programs for teens 11-18.  Kids and teens who read or listen to books for eight hours will receive a free paperback donated by the Jefferson County Library Foundation.  Coupons and prizes will be awarded in addition to the free books.  Adults can also join in the fun and “Master the Art of Reading” by getting in as many titles as you can.  For more details about all our Summer Reading Clubs, or for a list of programs, pick up a brochure at any of our libraries or visit jefferson.lib.co.us.

In celebration of the City of Golden's 150th Anniversary, RMQM will feature quilts from the pioneer days to present day.

15 Decades of Quilts
honors traditions of early quilters by showcasing the technique and fabrics of each decade. The progression illustrates various points of influence and changes in quilting thru pictorials, colors, and patterns. 

Water is often taken for granted, but it touches every aspect of our lives. Water unceasingly changes shapes and transforms itself--a source of unique inspiration. This collection of 75 small quilts illustrates an amazing array of techniques and exquisite fabrics.

through Oct 26 Bradford Washburn Photographs - From the Favorites
There will be two rounds of 18-20 of Bradford Washburn's favorite prints hung in the museum. The first round (June to mid-August) will be a selection of Denali- and Alaska-focused prints selected by Gene, Ken and Laura Karstens, the family of Harry Karstens, the namesake of Karstens' Ridge from the first ascent of the South Summit in 1913. July 3 Golden's First Friday and Huge Midsummer Block Party
Golden’s First Friday will be larger than ever with the huge block party being offered. Businesses in Historic Downtown Golden will be open and offering many midsummer specials, entertainment, treats, art demonstrations, free Horse and Carriage Rides, Chipmunk Express Train Rides, and the list goes on. Discover the homes and habits of an Abert’s squirrel clan. Make a craft, take a stroll, and sip ice-cold pine needle tea - an ancient favorite.  These 45 minute programs are specifically designed for children ages 2 – 5 with an adult. The play’s the thing! All campers will benefit from practicing character research, memorizing, public speaking, spatial awareness, auditions and solos, and stage presence. Here the children will adapt and produce their own musical play with expert guidance, and perform it for the community (7/17 2:15 pm). July 11 4-H Livestock Days at Clear Creek History Park - Chickens
If you thought the donkeys at Clear Creek History Park were fun last year, wait until you hear what’s in store for this summer. Sheep, goats, rabbits, cattle, and even more chickens are scheduled to visit.  Ever wonder what it takes to raise a hog or what a cow smells like up close? This is your opportunity to find out from local experts at Jefferson County 4-H.  At least twelve 4-H families will be on-site at Clear Creek History Park to showcase some of the animals they’re raising for the Jefferson County Fair held in August. July 11 Dinosaur Ridge Discovery Day: Backyard Fossils (Bring Your Own)
Naturalists will be at one of the stops on this walking tour of Dinosaur Ridge.  Bring family, friends and plenty of water and spend the day exploring. Learn about wildlife clues like feathers, scat and bones. Drop by between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.  All ages.  Registration not required. Dinosaur Ridge.

July 11 Dinosaur Discovery Day: Bring Your Own Fossil
Explore for dinosaur fossils on the trail and learn about other fossils.  Guides, including experts from the Morrison Natural History Museum, will be stationed along the trail to explain fossils and answer questions. Hike free or take the shuttle bus for $2 per person (5 and under ride free). Several hands-on kids activities include excavating dinosaur bones, sieving for tiny fossils, branding Stegosaurus, and painting a free dinosaur track replica to take home.  Kids, bring a fossil from home for us to identify! July 11, 12 50th Anniversary Celebration
The Colorado Railroad Museum is commemorating 50 years of heritage with all the pomp and circumstance due this great Iron Horse veteran of Colorado railroad history. Witness the spectacular Train Parade featuring Locomotive No. 346, the three Galloping Geese – No. 2, 6, and 7, Pee Wee No. 3, No. 50, No. 4 and Motorcar No. 10. All the local dignitaries and folks with historical significance will be on hand for this special salute to five decades of achievement. Sheep, goats, rabbits, cattle, and even more chickens are scheduled to visit.  Ever wonder what it takes to raise a hog or what a cow smells like up close? This is your opportunity to find out from local experts at Jefferson County 4-H.  At least twelve 4-H families will be on-site at Clear Creek History Park to showcase some of the animals they’re raising for the Jefferson County Fair held in August. August 14 Clear Creek Concert Series - Geoff Union & Big Sky Tonight
Free Dog Productions, a production company based in Golden, teams up with the Golden Hotel to present a concert series of music featuring a wide variety of genres and local talent.  Expect to see and hear a mixture of the best the area has to offer in jazz, bluegrass, folk, and world music.  Free.  6:00  to 9:00 p.m.  For more information please visit www.thegoldenhotel.com.  The Golden Hotel is conveniently located in the heart of the historic downtown district with everything that Golden has to offer right outside our front door, including the Coors Brewery Clear Creek pathway, shopping, galleries, and museums.

Monarch Productions & Hands On History Colorado present a grand gathering on the plains by and for those of us who love and live the Old West: The Legends of the Old West Fest.

We encourage everyone to pass the word through to friends and others who'd love to relive the old west for a wild and wooly weekend!  Come be a part, just to meet old and new friends, or compete in the Fast Draw and Gunfighting Groups competitions. Can you twirl pistols real good? Come on by. Living History presenters - we have an indoor space for you.  Whatever you can and want to do, old-west style - come on by. Trappers, military, cowboys, Indians...y'all are welcomed to attend. Vendors and sponsors are encouraged to inquire as well. We hope y'all get to celebrate with us!  10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Free admission.  At the quaint Victorian town of Heritage Square in Golden.

Golden will be filled with “ART IN THE AIR” this weekend with the sense of being in an open-air gallery. There will be more than 130 artists exhibiting and selling their wares, music in many areas, food and refreshment vendors, kids expression tent, 19th Century artisan demonstrations in Clear Creek History Park with free admission, free horse drawn carriage rides, free Chipmunk Express Train rides, magicians, art shows and demonstrations at several downtown art galleries and shops.  10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Free.  11th Street by Clear Creek History Park and on Washington Avenue.

Drop in and learn the art of cooking on a woodstove with our master of the domestic arts, Linda Griffin. Help her cook up a storm in the Pearce Cabin as you learn what went in to putting dinner on the table for a frontier family.
